In the twelve days of Christmas series #1 , I gave you a little of the history of the song “The Twelve Days of Christmas”, and, in the twelve days of Christmas series #2 I told you about a wonderful holiday tradition you can do with your family or friends. I also gave you the first printable and gift to give.
Today, we continue with the eighth day of gift giving.
For the EIGHTH day…
You will need a box of Swiss Miss hot cocoa and the following printable:

Ingredients
- 1 C powdered sugar
- 1 C white sugar
- 1 C butter, softened
- 1 C vegetable oil
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4-1/2 tsp peppermint extract {1/4 tsp for a mild taste, 1/2 tsp for a stronger flavor}
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp cream of tartar
- 4 C flour
- 7 candy canes, crushed, divided
- Vanilla or cream cheese frosting
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350º
- Cream sugars, butter and oil
- Add eggs and extracts, beat until fluffy
- Sift dry ingredients and mix into butter mixture
- Stir in 6 crushed candy canes
- Roll dough into balls the size of whole walnuts and place on ungreased cookie sheets
- Bake for 10 min
- Cool for 2 min before removing to wire cookie racks to cool completely
- If desired, frost and sprinkle with remaining crushed candy canes
