I’ve recently discovered Tastykakes Kandy Bar Kakes.
These light and fluffy chocolate enrobed cakes come in a unique kandy bar shape with a delicious créme filling made with your favorite candy flavors, S’mores, Peppermint, and Peanut Butter flavor.
I tried the peanut butter. It’s made with Reese’s, so I figured it had to be good. To be honest, I was a little disappointed. The flavor was great, but the cake itself was pretty dry.
I had been looking for ingredients for a fun 4th of July recipe, when it hit me. Why not use the Tastykakes? So I went to the store {Kandy Bar Kakes are available at grocery and convenience stores across America} and bought a box. The recipe is so simple, it’s ridiculous. The great flavor of Tastykakes all wrapped up in a moist little kake ball. That’s right, moist.
Here’s all you need:
- 1 Box Tastykake Kandy Bar Kakes made with Reese’s
- 3 oz melting chocolate
- 1 oz each, red, white and blues melting chocolate for decoration
Here’s all you do:
- Unwrap Kandy Bar Kakes bars and place in a med size bowl
- Using your hands, smash bars until well crumbled
- Roll into tablespoon-sized balls
- Place on parchment paper lined cookie sheet and freeze for about 5 min, or until firm
- Melt melting chocolate according to package directions
- Roll balls in chocolate one at a time, coating well; let dry on same cookie sheet
- In separate bowls, melt colored melting chocolate; drizzle on kake balls
- Place in refrigerator until firm
- Store in airtight container
- Makes about one dozen medium-sized kake balls
