Covered in chocolate, these colorful Patriotic Pretzels are fun and easy to make {and tasty, too!}
One of the first things I learned to make with melting chocolate was candy in molds. At the time, we lived about 40 miles outside of Tucson in a little town called Oracle. I can recall making the long trip to the ‘far’ side of Tucson where a large baking supply store was. Not only did they have endless pounds of chocolate and tons of candy molds, they also carried every size and shape of bakery and candy box you could ever want. From the moment I stepped inside, I was in love!
Sadly, this would be my one and only visit to this particular store. I was never able to make it back, and when I was in need of inspiration for one of my daughter’s birthdays several years ago, I was unable to locate it. I had forgotten the name and despite my best efforts, was unable to locate it.
The second thing I learned to make were chocolate covered pretzel rods. I first saw them in a chocolate shop and thought, why not? I have made them several times over the years, however, it has been a while. So, I thought it would be fun to make them for The Fourth of July. They’re easy to make and the kids love them {I love them, too!}
