Morning wins come in many different forms. Drinking flavored coffee, getting the kids to do a chore, or finishing a project, to name a few.
It’s no coincidence my blog is named {i love} my disorganized life. I sometimes get overwhelmed if I have too much going on, like planning my husband’s 50th birthday party last month, and am easily distracted {squirrel!} by things that can waste my time, like social media and games {darn you, Candy Crush!}. And, before I know it, the day has slipped past me and it’s time for the kids to start coming home from school. And that.stresses.me.out. I hate when I don’t feel like I’ve accomplished anything – loooser! {insert photo of me with a big “L” on my forehead}. So, whenever I can, I try to focus on my morning wins.
Morning wins don’t have to be huge, because, honestly, it’s all those little things that really add up. Lately, it’s enough of a win for me if I drag myself out of bed in time to make school lunches.
I’ve been watching my two young granddaughters a few days a week, and things can get pretty busy on those days. I don’t always take the time to eat breakfast when they’re here, so having a cup of flavored coffee and belVita Bites is a total morning win for me. The chocolate flavor is my fave, but the Mixed Berry is pretty good, too!
With slow-release carbs from 20g of whole grains and 4g of fiber, belVita Bites help to fuel my body for 4 hours. That means I can make it to snack time with the girls without feeling hungry, which is a good thing. Because, when I’m hungry, I have little patience. And, I’ll be honest, sometimes the girls don’t cooperate the way I’d like them too.
Those are the times I have to compromise. I usually have 110 things I need to get done indoors, and all they want to do is be outdoors. Like the other day when I let them put their feet in the water in exchange for Olivia watering the plants {which she loves to do anyway}. Yes, she and Emma ended up getting soaked, but I had a change of clothes for them, so no biggie. Win.
Or when they get to watch their favorite TV show while I get some blog work done. Win.
I may not have cleaned and organized the pantry by noon, but all the little morning wins have added up to a boost of confidence that causes me to feel good about what I did accomplish that morning. And that, my friends, is a win in itself!
What does a morning win look like to you?
