With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, you’re bound to be thinking about the roses you’ll be getting. And how you’re going to take care of them.
Here are 7 simple things you can do to ensure your cut roses last{almost} as long as your love does.
- As soon as you get them, cut your roses at an angle under water. This will help ensure that no air bubbles seep into the stem. {Air bubbles can cause rose heads to droop prematurely}
- Fill a vase with warm water {never cold, as it is harder for the stems to soak up} and add the floral preservative that came with your roses.
- Remove all leaves/greenery that will dip below the waterline. This will help prevent stems from rotting and murky water.
- Keep roses out of direct sun and away from vents and drafts.
- Change water and re-cut stems when water begins to get cloudy. {About every 2-3 days}
- Replenish preservative every 1-2 days.
- If rose heads begin to droop, re-cut stems and allow entire rose to soak under water for an hour before returning to vase.
These simple steps will allow you to enjoy your roses as long as possible.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
