Jack o’ Lanterns and Halloween. You can’t have one without the other, right?
Aside from taking the kids trick-or-treating, we’ve never done much with Halloween. No parties, no dressing up; it just isn’t our thing. However, I still wanted to make something fun.
I found an orange plastic bowl in the clearance section of my local grocery store. As soon as I saw it, inspiration struck!
Update: This project was originally made using a different cutting machine, so I don’t have the link for the exact jack o’ lantern face on the bowl.
No worries, I found the perfect one in the Cricut design space.

I had purchased some black vinyl and was itching to use it.
Honestly, the hardest part of this project was making sure everything was lined up properly. I wish I could say I had some tips for you on that, but I’m a no-pattern-sewer, eye-ball-it crafting kind of girl!
We live in a neighborhood that has one-acre lots and no sidewalks. In the nine years, we’ve lived here, I have seen exactly one trick-or-treater.
Why would I make a jack o’ lantern candy bowl, you ask? Well, it’s a bowl, so it has lots of uses, like for eating popcorn while watching movies, which is exactly what I’ll be doing when the kids are out doing their own thing.

Making Your Jack O’ Lantern Bowl
Click on the jack o’ lantern design link above, and select MAKE IT.
Follow the prompts on your Cricut machine for loading and cutting the design.
Carefully remove the vinyl from the mat by placing the mat upside down and lifting the mat off of the vinyl.
Use the weeding tool to remove the areas of the jack o’ lantern that you do not want.
Cut a piece of transfer tape and place it on top of your design, pressing firmly so the design will stick to the tape.
Carefully peel the tape up so that the design os on the tape. If it is not completely on the tape, use the scraper tool to get it to stick.
Position the jack o’ lantern design on the bowl and then use the scraper to press the design onto the bowl.
Remove the transfer tape and your candy/ popcorn bowl is finished!
