Have you ever wondered how to make spiced nuts? You know, the ones with the deliciously thick, sweet, crunchy coating? It’s easier than you think!
We’ve all seen them. The deliciously crunchy nuts they sell at all the craft and home shows. I’ve even seen them at Costco. They taste wonderful, and, let’s face it, they’re pretty addicting. The only trouble is, they’re expensive. Luckily for me, I’ve recently discovered how to make them. And, lucky for you, I’ve decided to be nice and share the recipe with you.
They are so ridiculously easy to make, it isn’t even funny. They barely take anytime at all, so you could easily make a batch in the morning and gift them later that afternoon or evening.
All you need is some brown sugar, a liquid {juice, or even water would do}, nuts and cinnamon. I didn’t use any cinnamon in my Rum Spiced Walnuts recipe or in my Bourbon Spiced Pecans recipe, but I think it adds to their flavor.
Simply mix brown sugar with liquid {a dark alcohol works well} until just combined. Mix in nuts and spread on a lined baking sheet.
Bake for about 20-25 minutes, stirring after the first 10 minutes. This is what they should look like.
Continue baking, stirring every 5 minutes. This is after about 20 minutes.
Once they have baked for about 25 minutes, take them out of the oven. They will still be a little wet looking.
The nuts will dry as they cool.
