Getting fit for the holidays doesn’t have to be painful; set realistic goals and go at your own pace.
“I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Planet Fitness. I received a membership to Planet Fitness to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.”
About this time every year, I say the same thing, “I’m going to get fit for the holidays“. And, every year, I set ambitious goals and start out strong. However, I seem to loose my motivation & steam and fade out before the month’s end. I’ve talked before about how I left a very stressful retail management job four years ago {to the day, actually}, and since then, I’ve gained a considerable amount of weight.
I’ve done several things to try to lose the weight, like when I made this easy goal sheet to help keep me on track with daily fruit, veggie and water intake, as well as this easy weight loss tracker to make seeing the pounds come off more fun. Mark and I even invested in a treadmill earlier in the year and have several exercise DVD’s and free weights. The problem is, I always have so much to do around the house, that I just can’t seem to make it into the garage to do a workout. Plus, it’s really hot in there in the summer and super cold in the winter.
I’ve considered joining a gym many times, but then start thinking about the high monthly fees and the year-long commitment they want you to make. Not to mention how intimidated I always feel. It seems like the other members are already fit, trim & tone, and know their way around the fitness equipment, while I stand there looking like a dork trying to figure out how to use them. Needless to say, I always manage to talk myself out of it.
This year is different. This year, I’ve discovered Planet Fitness. They have everything I’m looking for in a health club.
Planet Fitness offers all of its members:
- a wide variety of cardio and strength equipment
- unlimited fitness instruction {no more standing around looking like a dork!}
- locker rooms with day lockers and showers
- flat screen TV’s {watch a show while you run a few miles!}
- a non-intimidating workout environment
- Pizza Mondays & Bagel Tuesdays {because everyone deserves a reward now and then}
- affordable monthly prices with no commitment
Planet Fitness focuses on making everyone feel welcome, especially first time and occasional health club members. They’re all about you being able to set your own goals and go at your own pace in a non-intimidating workout environment known as the Judgement Free Zone. It’s no wonder Planet Fitness is the fastest growing full size health club franchise in the US.
And, to celebrate the beginning of fall & 10/10, {and to help you start reaching your fitness goals before the holidays}, Planet Fitness is having a 10 day sale. From October 1-10th, you can join any Planet Fitness for just $10 down and $10 a month with no commitment. How sweet is that?
If you’ve already been thinking about getting fit for the holidays like I have, don’t wait. Go to the Planet Fitness website to find the location nearest you and take advantage of their 10/10 sale.
I’ve gone a step further with the Planet Fitness Black Card. In addition to the membership perks mentioned earlier, it includes tanning, unlimited guest privileges, unlimited use of massage chairs, and the ability to workout at any of their 800+ locations. I think I’m most looking forward to the tanning, but I’m totally going to take advantage of being able to bring guests. I know Mark will want to check it out, and my sister would make a great workout buddy.
Since starting off a fitness plan fast and hard has never worked for me, I’ve decided to shoot for a goal of three 30 min workouts a week. Then, when I build up my stamina and strength, I can increase either the duration or number of my workouts. But I’ll just play that by ear. I’m not just wanting to get fit for the holidays, I’m in this for the long haul, and you know what they say, slow and steady wins the {weight loss} race!
