Enjoying a ball game with your dog is easy at the PetSmart Patio at Chase Field during the Dog Days of Summer program.
I love having family time, so when I was invited to hang out with my husband and the kids at a Diamondbacks ball game, I was thrilled. I was even more excited when I discovered we could bring one of our dogs along with us. PetSmart and the Arizona Diamondbacks have teamed up to create the first-ever season-long dog-friendly ballpark.
Before we headed out to the game, we stopped at PetSmart where Hank got a really cool Diamondbacks stencil and leash. Once we got to the stadium, we entered through a special gate just for pet owners and their dogs.
Here’s what was we found inside:
As soon as we walked in, we were welcomed by several friendly faces. Everyone was so nice and eager to help us find our seats.
The PetSmart Patio is a family-friendly zone with multi-level seating that is perfect for groups of pet parents and pups of any sizes. The Patio features 30 dog suites accommodating four humans and one dog with great viewing above left-center field. The view of the game was amazing, and there was plenty of room for all of us to move around.
When Hank got a little antsy and needed a break, we took him to the PetSmart Park, indoor and outdoor play areas at PetSmart Patio. There is an indoor, air-conditioned dog park so even in the heat of the summer dogs can run around and play. The outdoor park features a baseball theme complete with a baseball diamond and a grassy outfield – perfect for dogs to explore and play ball with other dogs. Here’s Hank taking a break for some playtime at the indoor play area.
Pet-friendly Menu – After his play time in the park, Hank was served up a special treat. For each of the 13 Dog Days of Summer games held at the D-backs’ Sunday home games, pets can enjoy all-you-can-lick dog-friendly ice cream. There were lots of toppings to add as well, like kibble, chicken bits, and dog treats. I think he really enjoyed it.
Hank wasn’t the only one who was spoiled, either. The rest of us enjoyed all-you-can-eat baseball fare such as hot dogs, peanuts and popcorn available right on the Patio. I may have eaten more than my share!
PetSmart Doggie Bags – Compliments of PetSmart, Hank received items like a baseball mitt-themed bed, paw-shaped water bowl, as well as treats and toys. I’m pretty sure he was feeling spoiled!
The Adopt Spot by PetSmart – The new adoption center allows dog-loving D-backs fans to expand their families through adoption. Pet parents of newly adopted dogs at The Adopt Spot receive a free D-backs-branded leash, as well as the PetSmart Adoption Kit, which provides guidance and tips on transitioning a new pet into the home and offers free one-time services for training, veterinarian and Doggie Day Camp for socialization. The kit also includes a coupon for a free bag of dog food and additional discount offers on everything a new pet parent needs including beds, bowls, collars and leashes ($400 total value). This is the first season-long pet adoption program at an MLB stadium. PetSmart is teaming up with three Phoenix-based animal welfare organizations – Arizona Humane Society, Arizona Animal Welfare League and HALO Animal Rescue.
The dogs were all so adorable, who wouldn’t want to take one home?
PetSmart Dog came around giving high-fives and we took the opportunity to get our picture with him. You can even see Hank’s Diamondbacks stencil, cool, right?
Even Hank had a great time cheering for the Diamondbacks!
We had such a great experience and so much fun that we honestly can’t wait to go back again!
