As far as I’m concerned, pumpkin is delicious year round. I’ve made pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie bread pudding, pumpkin spice orzo pudding, and the most delicious pumpkin scones.
These easy pumpkin donuts are made with real pumpkin and the made-from-scratch vanilla sauce is seriously addicting.

Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cup cake flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 3 tablespoons pumpkin puree
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 tsp all purpose flour
- Dash of nutmeg
- 1 egg
- 2 Tablespoons butter
- 1 cup whipping cream
- 2 tsp real vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350º
- In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt and pumpkin pie spice; set aside
- In a large bowl, beat sugar, milk, egg, butter and pumpkin until well combined
- Add flour mixture, stirring until incorporated, being careful not to over mix
- Spray donut pan with non-stick cooking spray
- Fill donut pan wells 2/3 full with batter and bake at 350º for 11-13 minutes
- Repeat with remaining batter
- Combine first six ingredients in a heavy sauce pan on medium heat and whisk constantly for 10-12 minutes or until thickened
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla
- Serve immediately over warm pumpkin donuts or pour into a bowl and use as a dipping sauce
