Scented foaming hand soap can be expensive when you buy it at the store. That’s why I’m sharing this DIY recipe for scented foaming hand soap. It lathers well and smells fantastic!
Kids, grand kids, dogs, puppies, cleaning, projects. Lots going on around here any given day of the week. Things get messy, so we wash our hands.
We wash our hands a lot.
You know how mad irritated I get when I go to wash my hands and the soap dispenser is empty? {oh, you too?} Not half as irritated as I get when I go to reach for a new one and there aren’t any. Especially when I could have sworn I just bought some the week before.
And what is it with kids and soap? They tend to use so much for just one washing. I mean, it isn’t like their hands will be any cleaner. In fact, I really wish the pump would only release half the amount it normally does.
Good luck with that, right? Well, actually, I found my own solution.
Remember when those awesome foaming hand soaps came out? I was thrilled! It uses much less soap then the conventional pump soaps. That means saving money.
In fact, those bottles can be refilled, saving even more money. Not only that, but by adding a small amount of essential oil, it can smell good, too.
I saved one bottle of the store bought foaming soap for each bathroom and the kitchen. Next, I bought a big refill jug of liquid hand soap. I already had some essential oils from when I made this body scrub. Other than that, you just need water.
How to Make Scented Foaming Hand Soap
- Fill the bottle with about 1/2 inch of liquid hand soap
- Add approximately 20 drops of essential oil {I used grapefruit for the kitchen and lavender for the bathrooms}
- Fill with water just to the bottom of the ‘pump’
- Shake gently to combine
That’s it, you’re finished! Easy, right? You will use so much less soap this way. And I really love the fact that I can choose any scent I want.
What scent would you choose?
