Dirty Arnold Palmer cocktails are a delightful twist on a drink popularized by the famous golfer. This easy cocktail recipe combines lemonade, iced tea, and vodka for a refreshing summer drink.
When Mark and I first met, and for the first several years of our marriage, he had no interest in watching, let alone learning to play golf. Somewhere along the way, he picked up a liking and started watching, which eventually led to a desire to play. At the time, my sister worked for Titleist, {before they added Footjoy}, and he was fortunate to be able to get a great discount on a really nice set of clubs.
Now, when I get really excited about something, I like to talk about it. That’s pretty much how Mark was, and still is, about the game of golf. He would share the different things he’d learned, or how well he did {or didn’t do} on a particular hole. He started watching tournaments every weekend, and it wasn’t too long before he knew who all the major players were. Since we only had one TV at the time, I learned who they were, too. Jack Nicklaus, Chi-Chi Rodriguez, Lee Trevino, Greg Norman, and, of course, Arnold Palmer.
Ever wonder how the half tea- half lemonade drink came to be? Me, too, so I did a little research. According to Palmer, he was in the habit of drinking iced tea with lemonade at home, and while at a golf tournament back in 1960, he ordered the drink at the bar. A woman sitting nearby overheard him, and ordered “that Palmer drink”. And, as they say, the rest is history.
Until now, that is. I like this slightly funner version of the Arnold Palmer. I like to call it the Dirty Arnold Palmer {or Dirty Arnold for short}.
