Hey there! Time for the 2013 Christmas Recipe Cookie Recipe Swap! I am thrilled to be hosting with Julie from White Lights on Wednesday and Stacey and Aubrey from Real Housemoms! I made these incredible Dark Chocolate Cherry Cookies
I’m so excited, I was paired with Susan from OHMY! Creative. Be sure to stop by and see what family favorite cookie recipe I sent her to make and share!
Susan sent me a recipe that she’s made before and her family really enjoyed. I have to say, I’ve had a hard time keeping my hands off of them!
These Dark Chocolate Cherry Cookies are so moist and chewy, you’re going to want more than one. Which is fine, if you can manage it. These bad boys are huge!

- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 1/4 C {2 1/2 sticks} unsalted butter, room temp

- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- 8 oz bittersweet chocolate {cut into coarse pieces}
- 6 oz package tart dried cherries
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper or use silicone baking mats
- In a medium bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt; set aside
- In a large bowl, beat butter and sugars until fluffy
- Add eggs and vanilla, beating until well combined
- Add flour mixture, beat on low until just combined
- Using a wooden spoon, stir in chocolate and cherries, being careful not to over mix
- Using a 1/4 C measuring cup, form balls of dough
- Bake 3 inches apart for 10-12 min, or until cookies are puffed and cracked
- Cool on wire racks
- Store in airtight container for up to three days
As you can see, they’re pretty amazing! The cherries add an occasional tartness to break up the sweetness of the chocolate. These have been a hit with my family and I’m sure they’ll be a hit with yours!
