Hey, there { i love} my disorganized life readers! Happy, happy holidays! My name is Therese and I create & share DIY decorating at Fresh Idea Studio, down in the Sunshine State.
I am really excited to hang out with y’all today! Thank you for having me as your guest, Rachel. My wish is that this finds you enjoying all the goodness this festive time of year has to offer… and getting a little R & R. ๐
Let’s get to it, shall we? I brought a fast and fun Christmas card craft to do with you today.
Don’t you just love going to the mailbox these days? There’s something magical about all the holiday greetings you receive from friends and family, near and far. But?! Then what?
What do you do with them? Put them in a basket? a pile on the kitchen counter? Or dare I say, pitch ’em? No, no, no my friends. Put them out where everyone can enjoy them. Let’s focus on first things first. That Christmas Card Craft I mentioned.
Say you receive a super cute card (or party invitation) that’s worthy ๐ of turning into a holiday decoration.
With a few simple supplies and One-Hour-Or-Less, you can whip up your own fast and fun Christmas card art.
Using a small canvas, you can create a DIY decoration you’ll treasure for years to come.
For my project, I used a metallic silver as the background and added in large and small polka dots in red and white.
A tip for getting good coverage on the background color is to use a foam roller. And, then you can use the end of it to make the best big polka dots!
I also painted the edge of the canvas a different color. I thought it added a bit o’pizzaz, but maybe that’s just me. Oh, and I added the little white polka dots using a Q-tip! {shh!} I like crafting to be fun and…easy to clean up. ha!
Ok, so after letting the paint dry for about 30 minutes, rub the back of the card with a glue stick and placed it on the canvas. Then by rolling a few thin coats of Mod Podge over the entire surface (using a separate roller than the one used to paint, of course).
Give that a chance to dry and poof!
Your very own fast and fun Christmas card, done! Now you just have to find the perfect spot for it.
And, with a little chevron ribbon and decorative tape, that’s how our DIY Christmas Card display came to life. {You can find those details over at FIS today.}
Alrighty, then!
