Today I have a very special guest! Trish is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to weddings, and, since deciding on a coordinator is the first step in making your special day perfect, I’ve asked Trish to share some important things to consider when choosing one.
Hi my name is Trish and I have been working in the “wedding business” for over 7 years. For almost four years I co-owned a gourmet cupcake business and 95% of our business was weddings! Meeting with the brides and grooms and their families for tastings was always a pleasure, and many times our opinions regarding other aspects of the couples special day were requested. That was right up my ally, because I LOVE everything “wedding”. I now work for a very unique wedding venue as a member of the event team. Every week is a new experience and challenge, but, the joy of making the most important day in a couple’s life as special as possible is the MOST fun you can have! Hard to call it work!
OK here are my top tips that I feel are important when choosing a wedding coordinator….
1. Before your meeting with the coordinator, it’s important for the bride and groom to have an idea of month, venue style and number of guests they are thinking about and most importantly… a budget!
2. After discussing some preliminary ideas with the coordinator, decide if you need someone to help you with all your ideas and dreams or if you just need someone that can sure that it all comes together on “day of”?
3. Be sure you see pictures and ask a lot of questions on past weddings the coordinator has worked on, both full coordinating and “day of” events. At the end of the day, you want to be sure that he/she is on YOUR page and “gets” your vision no matter how elaborate or how simple your ideas are. Make sure they GET YOU and what you want.
With these few tips, you can be assured your special day will be a once in a lifetime day that you will cherish always!
