These Blue Ribbon Pumpkin Muffins are sure to be a family favorite.
When my husband and I had only been married a couple of years, I begged him to take me to the Del Mar Fair in Southern California.
We had two small children and a tight budget. After some convincing and the knowledge we would be just ‘looking’, he relented.
It was wonderful!
All the exhibits, the crafts, the food!
I was is H-E-A-V-E-N.
Yes, there were several items I wished I could have purchased, but we had made an agreement {and I knew it wasn’t in the budget}, so I didn’t ask.
And then I saw it.
The 1993 {yes, it was that long ago} Edition of the “Fair’s Fare”. A wonderful book loaded with prize winning recipes! I could not resist. So I asked. And to my delight…..
He. said. yes!
I have to admit, I was intimidated. After all, these were all first and second place recipes. Newly married and somewhat still inexperienced at cooking and baking, I wondered if I could pull it off.
I’ve tried a few of the recipes over the years, but there is one that I keep coming back to year after year.
These pumpkin muffins are first place winners in the fruit muffins, quick breads category. I make them every year during the holidays and they are always a big hit.
Perfect for any morning- holiday or not.
