When it comes to summer, I’m all about grilling. There’s something about spending time in the backyard with family and friends, grilling, swimming, and just enjoying each other’s company in general, that brings a sense of peace & calm to my soul.
Burgers and sweet corn on the cob are my favorite things to grill, especially when there’s a crowd to feed. I love that the grill keeps the burgers from sitting in the fat, which can be so unhealthy. Another way I like to give my family a healthier burger is to use ground turkey instead of beef.
Thankfully, there are companies like Honeysuckle White, who through working with more than 700 independent farmers, produce wholesome turkeys that are raised without growth-promoting antibiotics. The meat is super tender and juicy, too. Plus, it’s lean, and not only is it great for burgers, but it’s also great for sausages, too.
It’s always fun to get creative with a burger recipe, and this Jalapeño turkey burger takes away the monotony of having the ‘same-old-burger’ every time.
My family is full of bacon lovers, and we also love spicy foods, so, when thinking up a new recipe, I thought bacon and jalapenos would make a great combination. And you’ve got to add cheese, I mean, that’s just a no-brainer. And yes, I get that it’s a bit of an oxymoron that I’m using a healthier meat, but adding bacon and cheese. However, it’s not a huge amount of bacon, but it does add a ton of flavor.
