Many years ago, when Mark and I first met, we were both living in Southern California. On our second date, he took me to this cute little town {this would later become our honeymoon spot} named Julian.
Julian is famous for apple pie, so naturally, we had to have a piece while we were visiting. Now, I’d eaten apple pie before, but Mark introduced me to a new way of eating it: warm with a slice of cheddar cheese melted on top.
At first I thought it was weird. Like, really weird. But, once I tasted it, I was all over it. Oh, and of course you’ve got to have that scoop of vanilla ice cream with it 😉
This sandwich kind of reminds me of that day. You’ve got the apple, the melted cheddar cheese and then there’s the pound cake {obviously there’s no pound cake in apple pie, but there is crust, so it just kind of replaces that}
